Creative & Romantic Wedding Photography Somerset
Well, what a wedding! This one was during that gorgeous heat wave we had in the summer. OK, so it might have been hard to sleep some nights in the heat, but it made for glorious wedding days. I love the summer so much; those long warm evenings when the sun turns into a gorgeous golden colour. That’s what happened for this wedding. You know when you get a moment and say “we couldn’t have planned that!” because it was so perfect? We were going to do the romantic wedding photos during the day but time was tight, so we spotted a cornfield that could be seen in the distance and agreed on doing an evening wedding shoot. Golden golden golden! The grass was soft and beige and the sun gave us warmth but a nice glow and it was amazing!! I’m very much into landscape photography (with a separate website) and so when I get to combine stunning landscapes with a newlywed couple I just step out of clock time and into a world that’s super content and creative.
I always feel rather lucky to be part of a couples story and share their journey. They had the best engagement story (he proposed under the ocean!). It was heartwarming to get to know these two. Gagan and I had many emails going back and forth in the time running up to the wedding. When it came to the wedding day I was excited to meet her and she was as kind and loving as I had sensed from our correspondence. They were so excited about doing the wedding photos and were so relaxed and easy to photograph, I think it was because they’re totally in love!
The speeches can be the best part of the day for me, apart from doing bride and groom portraits, as people really express their love which makes people feel so worthy and valued. Now that is a good thing to witness, right? We live in a chaotic world, but if you look for love and kindness you were certainly find it. That’s one of the reasons I’m a wedding photographer in Somerset, it gives people a reason to express themselves and to feel love from another person, even if they just witness it I’m sure it does people good.
The wedding party was super fun! So great to hear different music and I loved how the way everyone was dancing! I couldn’t resist joining in at one point!
I use off-camera flash when I can to achieve a better quality of light in my photos. So during the speeches I had a couple of lights either side, during the dancing, and even during the sunset photos. This really boosts the quality of the image I think. It’s also what I use when I do night photos, for example, the black and white one with the smoke and rain all lit up.

“Can’t speak highly enough of Fiona and her work!! Not only are her photos special and unique but she truly is a warm person and such a delight to work with. I’m quite sentimental with photos and so picking the right photographer was so important for me for our wedding. I was immediately drawn to Fiona’s style and creativity in her pictures and booked her several months in advance. In the run up to our wedding Fiona was so amazing at keeping in touch and getting to know us as a couple. There were so many photos which left me wondering how did she even manage to capture that from that angle?!- it seems Fiona may have special powers to move around at the speed of light, climb walls and a lot more all which result is gorgeous pictures. The pictures were everything I could have hoped for and more. She captured some beautiful moments. We’ve had so many compliments from numerous guests from the day who said how wonderful Fiona was and was constantly working, and even more from everyone who have seen our photographs from our wedding. I’ve lost track how many times I’ve looked through my wedding pictures, I can’t get enough. I had also decided to upload some of the pictures for my friends and family to see, the aim was to only upload a handful, however, couldn’t whittle it down to any fewer than a few hundred as they were all too good to not share. I can’t recommend Fiona enough and can say with my hand on my heart anyone who works with her will not be disappointed. Thank you so much Fiona for all the wonderful memories you captured for us :)”
