WE DID IT!
A Devon Wedding Put Together With 2 Days’ Notice
This one is a really great love story. For the year they set to get married in (2020) was..hmm, well, there are quite a lot of words one can choose to describe it. But let’s not forget there is still so much happiness in the world, despite what you see on the news. This wedding in Devon was one of those many untold happy stories, about a girl and a boy who fell in love and tried over and over to get married. “Three time’s the charm”, the saying goes, and that was true for them. J&B tried 3 different dates for their wedding, at Huntsham Court in Devon. When the guest list allowance changed from 30 to 15, they hurried to get the wedding happening on the day before the change took place. Hoorah, the 3rd date they picked took place and they got married!
Hunstham Court in Devon was the place, and it was a dream come true for them. After having gone through so many disappointments in their planning, due to the Gov. restrictions, they just wanted to get married. At the start of the wedding planning there were lots of plans for the day, including a guest list of over 100, and at trying and failing to get it to happen so many times it began to hold a different kind of meaning. The details didn’t matter so much, so long as they could get married with their closest loved ones beside them.
Photographing this wedding in 2020 will always be special to me. Their wedding brought sunshine to my soul during a tough year.
My lovely bride’s response to the photos:
“We have had the best Sunday sitting on the sofa watching, re-watching, watching with our loved ones over the phone…! Thank you so much for getting the photos to us so soon after our wedding. Just wow – your photos are absolutely sensational. Really stunning. We can not thank you enough and can’t even explain how happy they make us feel to look at them. You have truly captured the most special moments and emotions of our lives so perfectly.
You are an exceptional talent – the number of high quality photos is extraordinary and it will be hard deciding which to put in frames! You listened so carefully to what we wanted, and the portfolio is spot on and so beautifully diverse. Your incredible eye for a shot meant you somehow covered everything from candid photos of laughter and tears to classic portraits, from gorgeous landscapes to arty angles and so much more. We love love love every single one of them and are so very glad that we found you.
Not only is your photography fantastic, but you have just been a complete delight to work with from the moment we first started talking to you. You have always been so lovely and made such an effort to meet and get to know us as a couple. The journey to our wedding day was certainly a bumpy one – a covid postponement and then we brought forward our revised date on 2 days’ notice before the new rules came in. Throughout it all you have been so positive and flexible, and genuinely supportive. By the time the day (finally) came round, you knew exactly what was important to us, captured it perfectly and made us feel completely relaxed on the day. We so enjoyed our time with you having our couple shots taken on the day, and that really does come across in the photos.
Several of our guests have commented about how you blended in on the day so they weren’t even aware of you taking photos and the ceremony, speeches and the day generally went completely uninterrupted by camera clicks. I really have no idea how you managed to capture such amazing moments and emotions so beautifully, without us even realising you were there! There are a couple of extra special moments with my Dad in particular that I could have sworn it was just the two of us there for…did you change in to camouflage? These will be with us forever. Thank you so much.”
