Dog & Pet Photography Somerset UK

Your connection to your dog, I’m sure, has been life changing. No doubt your dog keeps you going with their unconditional love, their companionship, and their love for life. They can’t speak, and yet we feel closer to them than some humans. Seeing your dog in their element in a photograph is something I just can’t put words to, and very much want to capture for you.

I’ve been a photographer for 20 years (eek!), with plenty of experience. I’m the volunteer photographer at St Giles Animal Centre, Taunton, hoping to show prospective owners how gorgeous these animals are and help them get a home sooner rather than later. To learn more about me, you can click the About tab at the top.

Pricing details and FAQ’s are below. For the shorter mini shoots, it can either take place in the town of Wellington, at the park, or for longer shoots in Staple Hill woods  or a location of your choice. I’m available for dog photos across Somerset and Devon, including Bristol, Exeter, Tiverton, Taunton.

Pricing below. Please read the FAQ’s below before booking.

FAQ

What if the weather is bad?

We'll check the forecast the night before, and it may be that we have to change to the next available date for us both.
An ideal day might be sunny with partly cloudy. And the shoot needs to avoid the midday sun which gives harsh shadows.

How do I receive my images?

You'll receive a link with which you can select and download your selected images, after telling me which ones you'd like, or if you'd like the whole gallery.
You can also purchase prints on this link too.

Please bear with me in delivering your images, it takes a lot of time to edit. I can't guarantee a timeframe, but usually around 2 weeks.

What happens during a pet photoshoot, and what should I bring?

We might start with some action shots, such as running over a branch toward the camera, catching a ball. Due to chance, and the ability of the camera to capture the action, we'll probably try this several times. Do say if there's anything you'd rather not have your dog doing when we're creating ideas.
I have a lot of patience, and there is never any pressure to keep going at something if you'd like to stop, or if doggie needs to go play somewhere else for a bit.

You can expect to give commands for the shots, such as sit and stay, and come here etc. I'll need you to hold up some treats by the camera to get your dog to stay still for portraits. Be sure to give him/her the treat when we're done with a pose.

I shoot whatever is happening, there will be some portraits of course, but mostly we just see what we can get. If your dog doesn't want to do something then we can't make him.

IMPORTANT TIP:
Walk your dog before hand to burn off any energy they may have.

Terms

1. Payment is due at time of booking;
2. Either of us can cancel at any time, and your date can be changed;
3. You agree that the images can be used by myself for promotional purposes, which helps me find people like you;
4. You are responsible for the health and safety of you and your pet during the session, and will release the photographer from all claims, damages, and liabilities that may result from accidents or incidents during the session.
5. Travel included within 10 miles of Wellington, Somerset. £0.40 per mile after that.
6. Shoot needs to be booked at short notice. When you're ready to go, provide a handful of dates and times over the next 2 weeks, so we can have more certainty on the weather.
7. Images are legally copyright to Fiona Walsh. Images are purchased with a personal use license. i.e., you cannot enter them into competitions or magazines without my permission.
8. I cannot guarantee any specific shot, such as portraits, or jumping in the air over a stick, due to the nature of dogs. Some won't sit and stay, others won't want to jump over the branch. Regardless, we'll get something beautiful of them.
9. Sometimes flash is used, such as when we're in the woods.

Where does it take place?

The photoshoot will take place outdoors, at Staple Hill.
Or I am happy to come to a location of your choosing, no more than 45 miles. 10 miles is included in the price, after that it's 0.40 per mile.

Can I include my family in the photos?

Yes, the more the merrier!
